Principal Desk

Dear Parents,

The whole world is going through an immense crisis period. Our anxiety as adults is on high alert and somewhere or the other perhaps we are transferring this anxiety to our children. It is time that we hold the reins of pacifying and comforting the little ones to keep them happy. To quote Oscar Wilde, “The best way to make children good is to keep them happy.”

What happens sometimes is that the kids  try to reduce that anxiety and try to take care of us but it should not be that way. We need to  adults,  ground  and resource ourselves and feel confident that we can be there for our kids.

It  can be helpful to think of the things that have reduced stress in the past — maybe reaching out to friends, religion, therapy, or turning off the news every once in a while. Let us try to be the strength of our kids in the following ways:

●

Remain calm and reassuring.

●

Make yourself available to listen and to talk.

●

Remember that viruses can make anyone sick, regardless of a person’s race or ethnicity.

●

Pay attention to what children see or hear on television, radio or online.

●

Consider reducing the amount of screen time focused on COVID-19 and provide information that is honest and accurate.

●

Give children information that is truthful and appropriate for the age and developmental level of the child.

●

Talk to children about how some stories on COVID-19 on the internet and social media may be based on rumors and inaccurate information.

●

Teach children everyday actions to reduce the spread of germs.

●

Play Board Games and watch movies with them

●

Academics play an important role in a child’s life, but do not impose on your child the burden of it, because apparently they seem to be carefree but are otherwise scared.

●

The teachers will take care of their academics, when they return joyfully to their classrooms. You as parents, spend time with them by solving some analytical mental ability problems, encouraging them to read story books.

●

At the Primary school level, you might lead your child into improving their handwriting and learning the tables in a play way method.

●

The Secondary and the Senior Secondary students may be guided to go through the lessons by downloading them from the NCERT website.

●

You may play a game of quiz to apprise your child with the day to day happenings round the world.

●

Now is the time when you can groom the tender minds mentally by giving them company and by bringing out innovative ideas to make each passing day interesting and not boring.

Let us as parents and teachers shoulder the responsibility to keep our children stress-free and also teach them how to combat such crisis with smiles not tears. I sincerely believe that we need to educate their hearts for educating the mind without educating the hearst is no education at all.

Stay home, stay safe!!!!
